Welcome World!
I'm so glad you've stopped by to check out what's going on at TWO:FORTYTWO. For some time, I've been thinking about writing a blog about what it means to "be" the Church and not just “go” to Church. I finally succumbed to the cultural peer pressure of writing blogs and so here we are. I've chosen the name TWO:FORTYTWO because I believe that in Acts 2:42 we find the beginnings of what true Church looks like. In Acts 2:42-47, we are given the basis of what it means to "be and do" Church from a Biblical perspective in a culturally relevant fashion. Essentially this is the purpose of this blog, to examine what Scripture REALLY says about Church. For me, this is one of my greatest passions. I believe that this world desperately needs the Church to actually “be and do” Church rightly. It’s my hope and prayer that this blog will encourage and challenge us to see this happen.
If you’re looking for a perspective about Church that is real and honest, Biblically faithful and culturally relevant this blog might be for you. But if you’re looking for a guy that believes he has everything figured out and his way is the only way-you might want to go somewhere else. There’s plenty of people out there like that. I know a lot of them.
I hope that you'll join me in this journey of rediscovering “being and doing” Church. Next time, I’m going to share briefly about my personal journey in rethinking what the Church is. Then we’ll dig into Acts 2:42-47 as a framework for the mission and ministry of the Church. Until next time,

Zizioulas, Being as Communion. There - the purpose of this blog is now fulfilled.
ReplyDeleteButternutsquash-First, your user name sounds delicious. In fact, I’m going to grab lunch right now. Second, I haven’t read Zizioulas, Being as Communion, although after a preliminary viewing I would have to say that it looks like something I would love. It would seem that he does an awesome job of bring a Trinitarian Theology to the Church’s ministry and mission, which is much needed today. I plan on checking it out. It will be interesting to see how culturally assessable his application is. The great thing about this blog is that if you don’t see the purpose in it than you don’t have to follow it:) Don’t you just love the internet!
ReplyDeleteBy the way is this Adam Bornoman? If I had to bet, I would venture that it is. Especially based on Zizioulas book, and the comment’s sarcasm, am I right??
